Introduction

Terengganu is one of the Malaysian state which is endowed with a wealth of charming and refreshing natural landscapes. She has beaches, exotic islands, lush virgin tropical jungle, quaint fishing villages, dazzling waterfalls and many, many more. Her miles and miles of white, sandy beaches and crystal clear water stretches throughout its 225 km coastline, extending from Besut in the north to Kemaman in the South. Her islands are among the most picturesque and fascinating in the country. From its myriad of colourful pastimes which include batik printing and songket weaving to the rapturous celebration of its many generations of cultural and traditional heritage, Terengganu is indeed a very blessed state.

Terengganu's population, which stands at approximately 1 million people, consists of 94.7% Malays, of the population and Chinese 2.6% while Indians 0.2%. The pace of life in Kuala Terengganu, its capital state, and all the towns and villages in Terengganu is unhurried and unaffected by the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Traditional chinese name for Terengganu has been "丁加奴" Therefore, they successfully petitioned the regulatory commission for Chinese language in Malaysia to change the Chinese name for the state to "登嘉樓".

Terengganu's location by the South China Sea. Redang island situated 45km off the coast of Kuala Terengganu, is the largest of all Terengganu's islands. Accessible from Merang Jetty 1 hour drive north of Kuala Terengganu. It is made up of a few islands namely Redang Island (the largest), Pinang Island, Kerengga Island, Lima Island, Ekor Tebu Island and Susu Dara Island. Redang Island is indeed one of Malaysia’s most idyllic islands. This tropical paradise offers pearly-white sandy beaches, sparkling clear seawater, lovely sunrises and spectacular marine life. The long Beach or locally known as Pasir Panjang, situated on the east coast and Teluk Dalam Kecil is the location of the Berjaya Redang Beach Resort.

How to go to Redang Island ?


For Singaporean

By Car

If you are driving, you can head north on the North-South highway exit at Sungai Besi Toll Kuala Lumpur. After that, follow Sungai Besi expressway exit at Kuantan / Cheras then driving untill exit to Karak highway ( also is go to Genting Highland ) and pay RM5 toll fee untill Kuantan, Pahang. Then use either highway 14 to Kuala Terengganu or coastal highway 3 via Kemaman, Paka and Dugun. The coastal road is more scenic but may be more congested during daytime peak hours. directly for Merang jetty or Shahbandar jetty where resort boats depart for Redang. Some coaches also drop off or pick up passengers at Merang.

Our coach

You also can take the Transnasional bus service from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu. The service runs daily overnight. Coaches depart from the Kallang Bahru bas station takes about 10 hours ( 590km). The VIP coach ticket per adult is SGD 33.00. Please contact your bus company at 02-62947034 or another coach company at Golden Mile Complex ( nearest Lavendar MRT station ). Some bus company also provide drop-off and pick-up service at the Kuala Terengganu Shahbandar Jetty and Merang Jetty making it more convenient for passengers. Check with your coach operator for more details.

By Air

The simplest way to get to Redang island is fly direct on Berjaya Air from Singapore ( Seletar airport ) flight time about 1 hour 25 minutes. For Adult S$149.00 / Child S$75.00 ( one-way fare ) 10kg free baggage allowance.
